Rain , Rain , Go Away!

Let’s face it , we moved here for the weather. It is as shallow as that. Because almost any other reason you come up with for being here has to do with weather. The great beaches ? Weather. Golfing ? Weather. Shopping and fine dining? We would not have built it if everyone didn’t want to be here for the…? You got it , fantastic weather. Oh , you want to live near your friends and family ? They came here for the WEATHER.

And the weather we want is SUN people. Lot’s of warm ,wonderful sunshine pouring down upon us while we tee off , tan , and eat al fresco. Am I spoiled from having lived under a smiley faced sun so long? You betcha , and I am not ashamed of this.

Monday , Tuesday , and now most likely Wednesday this week have been grey , drizzly Ohio Valley days. They are the reason Seattle has the highest suicide rate in the country and why you migrated south. The road blends with the sky into a drab and uninspiring landscape , and you feel kind of blahh. Honestly , I think it is kind of hard to even get out of bed. And I don’t drink coffee , so it really creates an issue.

Oh , I have heard some of the lies some of my friends tell themselves about how they are okay without the sun. “It’s just weather”. Yeah , bad weather. “Feels kind of brisk.” Means you are chilled to the bone. ” Nip of Fall in the air” Which will be followed by Winter. ” I like the cold ” Forgot to take my Prozac.

Honestly there are no redeeming qualities to days under an umbrella of gloomy greyness. Other than to make us all appreciate the many brilliantly beautiful normal Naples days we enjoy.

This past weekend I was up at Siesta Beach , where the sand is as fine as a baby’s behind , the water is crystal clear with just the right sprinkling of salt , and the sun smiled down upon us from above in all it’s golden glory. I need that people , I need that more than chocolate or for you to buy three more decorative pillows .

Forget about a rain dance , join me today at noon doing the Sun Shuffle. Just head outside in your all together , wave your arms in the air , and chant , ”Sun , Sun , Sun . I need fun ” It’s a great way to meet you neighbors , and maybe even the vice squad. But if it works , we will have the wonderful gift of the right  kind of WEATHER. It is as shallow as that. And I am not ashamed. See you at noon.
