In continuing to end the week on a cool note ,
I turn to one of Patone and Fashion’s colors for 2012 , Menthol. I know.
Mind association =cigarettes . Then if you’re my age , it is Salems , pony tails , drive ins , jukeboxes , boy friends. But enough nostalgia.
Patone states that ‘Menthol ,
is an old Industrial color that has reinvented itself in a new and modern way.”
They are suggesting
to combine it with Cobalt Blue . Menthol is one of the
prominent Colors for Spring 2012 . Influenced by the desire of Americans to seek the “promise of a brighter day”. Hey , I am down with that one.
Menthol is a natural evolution of Turquoise which has been enjoying a long healthy trend cycle.
It has held on as long as Orange which has now spun
off into Tangerine Tango.
I associate
Menthol with the Art Deco period , when it was often seen in glass designs , and of course later with the Mid Century period.
I do think Menthol
will float through our color palettes like a light summer breeze , and work great as glass tiles , accessory items , LED lighting , outdoor living , and sheer fabrics.
It is Friday , we are off toward the weekend ,
may your wekend be as refreshing as a Menthol cough drop , and be accompanied
by a Sun the hue of Tangerine Tango. Enjoy!
