It’s time we come out of the closet about
separate martial bedrooms , in case you’ve gone to sleeping in your walk-in to escape your spouse’s snoring. Biologically men’s and women’s sleep preferences often do not mix. There is only one way we are compatible in the bedroom , and please refer to your 6th grade biology class here.
We have long advocated the separate bathroom plan . There are many as they end up Empty Nesters with lifestyles changing so dramatically , who are also converting their spare bedrooms into additional , and separate Master space.
Here are some reasons it may make sense to have a His and Her’s bedroom plan in place.
1.Women’s and Men’s Circadian rhythms operate
on different clocks. Women are early bird risers and men are more likely to be night owls. Women report insomnia 50 per cent more often than men , especially the early awakening.
2.He really does snore more than you. In fact up to 80 per cent of men snore , while only 40 per cent of women do on average.Man is twice as likely to snore as Woman , depriving her of needed rest. Other factors that contribute to the snoring problem are body position , alcohol , and plain old genetics.
3. He is hot and she is cold. On top of that throw in hot flashes , and you have hours of someone sneaking off to adjust the thermostat. A woman’s body heat protects the inner core , while a man’s circulates through out theirs. As we age , women often feel the cold even more due to under active thyroids or a lower blood count.
4. Technology – He is on the computer while you want to snooze. She is reading her Nook and you’d like to get some shut eye.One of you is texting the kids. And those LED reading lights become blinding when you’d just like to sleep.
These are just some of the
reasons while it can be hard to bunk with that spouse you other wise adore. And as an interior designer I’ll throw in plain old decorating differences. So consider the separate bedroom plan , you may both get more rest and feel less grouchy toward each other the rest of the day.
If not that try and adjustable Prana bed with a leg massage feature. And good quality ear plugs .
It’s Monday , and we are often still tired from the weekend , worn out from cramming so much into so little time. Take 15 minutes to relax and meditate mid day. It may revive you long enough to make it until 5 o’clock.
